Inspiration comes from weird places.

You never know when you will find the inspiration that will get you going to do something you wanted to do. I have been kicking around with the idea of character analyzation in video games for a while, and even created a Class Project for it in my EDM310 Class during my first year at the University of South Alabama. However, I did not know what it would look like. Would it be something similar to that of a character analysis from a book, typed and printed, or would it take the form of a video. Then I discovered this video: To frame this, Dynasty Warriors has quickly become one of my favorite games since I was introduced to it back when it was Dynasty Warriors 5. It is a great game series that introduces people to a story that they would probably not read ever in their life. It's a story of Politics and War, and can be said to be more about the characters then the war itself. This video gives a detailed explanation of one of the officers, Cao Ren, from the perspective of the video games. His first video game appearance comes in the game Dynasty Warriors 4, and he has continued to show up in every Dynasty Warriors game since then. The video describes his characteristics, motives, beliefs and dislikes, but also describes how they have changed through the remakes of the game. RydainDarkstar, the creator of the video, has done a great job analyzing a character and his growth through a video game. Like books who have a story that continues from book to book, video games have characters that change with each game they are introduced. Some stay the same no matter how old they are, looking at your Mario. So, how am I suppose to expect my future students to do something that I do not understand how it will work out. That is what this blog is going to try and do, analyze characters from different video games, their actions and motives and what makes them who they are. The authors of book write their characters in specific ways, so then a writer for a video game must do the same.
